"So, how did it go?" Oz asked me.
"It was awesome. Spence is a really cool guy." I said, and sat down next to Oz on the couch. "How was your date?" I asked him.
"Carmen was really shy the whole time. She didn't say more then two sentances the whole time." He said.
"That's weird. She talked to non stop before." I said.
"Yeah. I'm not sure I really like her. I mean, I like her, but I don't think I like more then just hanging out and being friends." He said.
"Did you tell her that?" I asked.
"No. She asked me to go grab a beer with her tomorrow night. I figured I'd see how that goes first." He said.
"Well, good luck." I told him. "OH! Spence said his cousin does body work on cars, and he can get you a good deal if you want anything done on the El Camino."
"Seriously?" He asked sitting up. He looked like I just offered to give him head.
"Uh, yeah, seriously." I said, and laughed.
"Spence is a cool guy." He said.
"I know. I'm going to go to bed. I have to be at work early tomorrow to help Angie show Jimi how to handle some of the paperwork better." I sighed.
"Okay. See you tomorrow." He said, and hugged me. I went to bed and fell right asleep. When my alarm went off the next morning I didn't want to go in at all. I dragged myself out of bed, took a shower and got dressed. By the time I was done putting my makeup on I felt a lot better. I walked to work, and when I go there only Angie and Jimi where in.
"Hey. Where is Terrance?" I asked Angie.
"He went to get some donuts." She said.
"Oh good. I'm starving!" I told her.
"Hey Lola." Jimi said.
"Hey." I said, and yawned. The front door opened up and all three of us looked up. It wasn't Terrance though. Spence was standing there with two ice-teas from Starbucks.
"Hey." I said.
"Hey. I just wanted to say good morning. And to bring you this. It's their passion fruit ice tea." He said.
"I've never had it." I told him, and took it from him.
"It's good. Try it." He said. I took a sip.
"Wow. This is awesome." I said, and took another sip.
"Well, I've to head back. When I live my cousin in charge of the store something always ends up breaking." He said.
"Okay. I'll see you later." I said, and smiled. "Thanks for the tea."
"You are welcome." He said, and left. He was wearing dickies, a tight white t-shirt and a blue Independant hat. I watched him walk away.
"Stare much?" Angie asked me.
"Huh?" I asked turning around. Angie and Jimi both started laughing.
"Oh grow up!" I said.
Just then Terrance walked in with donuts.
"What's so funny?" He asked.
"Lola. Undressing her lover with her eyse." Angie said.
"Spence? Or Oz?" Terrance asked.
"SHUT UP! Spence! And he isn't my lover. Yet." I said. I took a donut, and walked behind the counter to eat it.
When lunchtime hit I decided to bring Spence a sandwich from my favorite cafe. I walked down the street, bought the sandwich and walked to his skate shop. I was extremley careful when I walked in and avoided any kind of racks or displays.
"Can I help you?" A heavy set Italian guy asked me.
"Yeah. I'm looking for Spence." I said.
"EY! SPENCE! Somone here to see you!" The guy shouted.
"I'm Ernie." He said, and held out his hand. I shifted the bag of food to my left hand, and shook his hand.
"Lola." I said.
"Ahhhh, Lola. You are prettier then he describes you." Erine said.
"Thanks." I said and felt myself blush.
"Lola. Hey." Spence said.
"I brought lunch." I told him.
"I love that place! My cousin Richie owns it." He said.
"How many cousins do you have?" I asked. Ernie laughed.
"Including me I think there are what, 20 of us?" Ernie said, looking at Spence.
"Sounds about right." Spence said. "Hey, I'm taking lunch. I'll be in the back if you need me." He told Ernie. Ernie nodded, and sat down on a stool and continued to read his Sports Illustrated. I followed Spence to the back. It smelled like a warehouse back there. It was small, and there was a tiny office to the left. We walked in and sat down in two chairs.
"Thanks for lunch." He said.
"Your welcome." I said.
"I'm glad you stopped by. I've had a really shitty day." He said.
"I'm sorry. What's going on?" I asked.
"Smurf got suspended. Again. I take care of him, and my dad who is sick. It's just real hard sometimes. Now I have to make sure he stays out of trouble during the day." He said.
"Smurf is 15, right?" I asked.
"Yeah." He said.
"Send him down to the lounge. I can give him a job. At least he'll be working while he is suspended, and not getting himself into trouble." I said.
"Really? Are you sure? I've tried to get him to work here, but if we see each other all the time we start to get on each other's last nerve." He said.
"Yeah, I'm sure. I like Smurf. He's a good kid." I said. Spence rolled his eyes, and I laughed.
"Let's eat." I said, and picked up my sandwich.
