"LOLA!!!" Anige cried into the phone when I picked up.
"What? Ange?" I asked.
"I kicked Terrance out." She said, and sobbed.
"What? WHY?" I asked. Oz looked at me from the kitchen, concerned.
"He is being a total dick! I should have never said I wanted to get married!" She wailed.
"I'm coming." I told her.
"NO. It's okay." She said.
"Ange, I am coming over. Bye." I said, and hung up.
"What's up?" Oz asked.
"Angie kicked Terrance out." I told him.
"FUCK! Why?" He asked.
"I don't know. They had a fight last night because Ange want's to get married. I'm surprised Angie called me before Terrance did." I said.
"Knowing Terrance he is at the strip club drowning out is sorrows with booze and naked women." He said, and grabbed his jacket from the back of the chair. I put on my hoodie and we headed out. Oz dropped me off at their apartment, and he went to go find Terrance. When I walked upstairs, Angie had the door open before I could even knock. She burst through it and hugged me.
"What do I do?" She sobbed on my shoulder.
"We are going to go inside, get you some tea, and you are going to tell me what happened." I said, and lead her inside. She sat down on the couch and I went to the kitchen to heat up some water. When I walked back out she had a bunch of tissues in her hands and was wiping her eyes.
"I kicked him out. I got tired of him being so stupid! He doesn't want to get married or have kids because he is afraid of what people will think. He never cared before!" She said.
"I know. But I think he is scared. What did he say? That it was never a possibility?" I asked.
"Yeah. He said he was going to be honest with me and said he could never marry me. Then I asked if I was black or if he was white, he would marry me. He got mad and said Yes. That is when I flipped out and kicked him out. I don't even remember what I said after that." She said.
"Oh sweetie. I don't think he means that. He loves you." I told her.
"Not enough to marry me." She said.
"I'm sure once he thinks about it, he'll realize he does want to marry you. He just has some things he needs to work out with himself." I said.
"I don't care. I'm tired of waiting. I'm tired of hoping, and getting crushed." She said. I hugged her, and she started to cry more on my shoulder.
"It's going to be okay. Whatever happens. I promise." I told her. Just then there was a knock on the door, and it slowly opened. Oz walked in.
"Hey." He said.
"Hi Oz." Angie said, and looked up at him.
"Ange. Terrance his here. But he said he wont come in if you don't want him too." Oz told her.
"He can come in." She said.
"We'll leave you two alone." I said, and Oz and I walked outside. We could still hear them talking through the door.
"I'm sorry." Terrance said.
"Me too. But I want to know we are going somewhere. If you don't see yourself married to me, then this has got to end right now." She told him.
"No. It wont end, I wont let it. Ever." He said.
"What?" She asked.
"Ange, I love you. I don't care what other people think. I just don't want you to have to deal with stereotypes and all that crap." He said.
"I DON'T CARE!" She shouted. I jumped when she did, and Oz put his arm around me.
"If I cared I wouldn't be with you now. I love you." She said.
"I'm an idiot." Terrance said.
"Why?" She asked.
"For not marrying you sooner." He said, and they were quiet. I got the chills, and smiled. Oz looked at me then leaned down and kissed me. We kissed until we were interrupted.
"What is this?" Terrance asked. I looked up and he was standing in the doorway with Ange.
"This is..." Oz started to say, then looked at me.
"This is Oz and I trying something we both should have tried a long time ago." I said. I thought of Carmen and felt kind of guilty, but I just dismissed it. If she was upset, I would help her out, but I couldn't not try things with Oz.
"Wow. Isn't this an amazing night." Ange said.
"Yeah." Oz said, and took my hand.
"Come on. This calls for a beer." Terrance said, and we all went inside.
