Chapter Eighty-Seven

Sarah said...

"Hey, I have to head to work soon." Warren said. "Get dressed and you can come in with me."
I yawned. I got up and took a shower. I dug though the bags from something to wear. I just threw on the jeans I had worn already and a green and white striped baby tee. I put some make up on and threw my hair up.
"Now I'm going to have to go back home again." I said.
"What do you mean?" Warren asked.
I sighed. "Anything old I had here is gone. I still have a lot of pictures and stuff I left at my parents. I'm going to miss looking at old pictures and stuff. . ." I took a deep breath, so I wouldn't start to cry.
"I see." He said. "I think you should buy a new album, a new journal and a camera. Start new memories here in Chicago."
I nodded and smiled.
He hugged me.
"Thanks." I told him. "For everything. Thanks."
He smiled. "Let's go."
We walked to his car and got in. When we got to the store, I went straight to the back. I called my renters insurance and a few other places they directed me to. The most they could give me for the apartment was 5 thousand dollars. Which sounded good to me, but Terrance thought I could get more if I tried. I didn't feel like trying to get a lawyer and paying for that, then possibly ending up with nothing. I was content with the 5 thousand.
"Carmen's here." Angie said peaking into the office.
"Why?" I asked annoyed.
She shrugged. "I told her you didn't feel like speaking to total bitches, but she just gave me a dirty look and told me to go get you."
I laughed. "Tell her I'm not coming out and if she tries to come back here, I'll punch her in the stomach." I said.
She smiled. "Sure thing, sweetie." I noticed her starting to blow a bubble with her gum as she turned and left. I rolled my eyes and shook my head as I thought of Carmen.
"If you want to ever be my friend again, give me space. Fuck." I said out loud to myself. I grabbed the local adds to look for a new apartment.
"Hey there you are." I heard. I looked up and Spencer was walking in.
"Hey." I smiled.
"Everything going okay?" He asked.
"I think so."
"Looking for an apartment?" He asked as he sat down next to me.
"Yeah. They're all more expensive and more in the heart of the city, but. . . eh. I'll live." I said smiling.
"They're some great shopping there." He said. "Especially for women."
I giggled and sighed. "There'll be up and downs about it." I said. "The only shitty thing is I'll have to take the L-train to work."
"I hear it's fun." He said.
"Maybe. I do like to people watch." I said.
"And you'll have music soon." He said. "And you can borrow any of my books to read too."
"How long do you think the ride will be?" I asked.
"Pretty short. It doesn't run THAT far." He said.
"Cool." I said. "I just keep trying to tell myself that things happen for a reason and the shitty stuff only makes me stronger."
"You're amazing." He said. He kissed me on the cheek and left.
