Chapter Thirty-Seven

Oz ordered us a basket of french fries and got us a pool table. I sat down while he paid. We had to wait for a group of guys to finish their game, so we sat down at one of the tables nearby.
"I really am sorry. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions." He said. "I can't help it though."
"Well, learn to." I said. "If you can't trust me, this isn't going to work."
He just nodded as he took a sip of his water. The waitress brought us the french fries and we started to pick at them. They were really good!
I quickly pulled my pants up and my shirt down. Oz looked upset again, but I didn't bother to ask what was wrong. I smiled at him and he smiled back. "I'm gonna go pick a song on the jukebox." He said. He took another sip of his water and walked off. I sighed.
"He your boyfriend?" A guy asked as he walked up next to me.
"Yup." I said.
"He looks really angry." He said.
"He probably is." I said.
"You deserve better than that guy." He said.
"You don't know him." I said.
"Let me guess. The jelous type." He said.
I gave him a strange look.
"Like I said, you deserve better." He said. "Someone who trusts you."
"Hey." Oz said sitting back down at the table.
"Think about it." The guy said. He looked at Oz, then walked away.
"What is he telling you to think about?" He asked.
I just shrugged my shoulders and looked at the pool table. A couple of the guys were really hot. The one with the baseball hat smiled at me and I felt myself blush. As I watched them finish their game, he kept looking at me. He brightened up my night and I felt so much better. I guess my Mom was right. Just a smile is all it takes. "Ready?" I asked Oz.
"Let's just finish the fries and go home." He said stuffing a bunch in his mouth.
"You paid for the game." I said standing up.
"Why don't you go play with Derek Jeeter?" He said pointing to the guy with the baseball hat.
I got so angry. I walked over to the guy and asked him if he wanted to play another game with me. He bought me a beer and paid for the game. Oz just sat there at the table moping. It pissed me off that he didn't even say anything.
"What's with him?" The guy asked looking up at Oz.
"He's having a bad night and I'm not going to let it ruin mine." I said.
"Good idea." He said. "By the way, I'm Devon."
I smiled. "I'm Lola."
I played two games with Devon. We both sucked, so they were pretty long games. I was tipsy by the time we finished too, because he kept buying me beers. "This was fun." Devon said smiling. He gave me a hug. "Devon James. Look me up if you ever want to hang out."
"Okay." I said smiling. I walked back over to Oz. "Did you have fun?" He asked.
"Yup. Let's go home." I said.
I followed him out to the car. The ride home was very quiet.
"I will try my very hardest not to get jelous easily." He said as we pulled up at our apartments.
"Okay." I said.
We went inside and I got ready for bed. I joined him in his bed and cuddled with him until he fell asleep, then I rolled over onto my side.
