Chapter Seventy-Four

Christina said...

"BAD DOG!" Chris shouted, and ran after it. I started laughing and ran after him. The dog had grabbed the leash of a much bigger dog, and was playing tug of war with it! It looked hilarious, and the big dog did not seem amused.
Christ grabbed his dog, and walked back over to me.
"Stupid fucking dog!" Chris yelled. I couldn't stop laughing.
"Shut up!" He said, looking at me.
"I can't help it! That was the funniest thing I've ever seen!" I told him.
"Yeah, I guess it was kind of funny." He said, and set the dog down. I picked up the leash and we walked around some more. His dog was more interested in smelling the ground and peeing every 30 seconds, then playing fetch or any other games. As we were walking Chris took my hand, and startled me. He let go right away, and looked confused.
"Sorry. I guess I held your hand out of habbit." He said, and laughed.
"It's okay. It just confused me for a second." I told him, and smiled. We started to get tired and walked back to the car. On the way I tripped over a whole, and Chris had to grab me so I didn't fall.
"Thanks." I said.
"Still a little clumsy?" He asked, and I laughed.
"A little." I said, and smiled. He was still holding my arm. We locked eyes for a second, and it looked like he was going to kiss me. He started to lean in, and then stopped.
"Uh, sorry." He said, and let go of my arm. He unlocked the car, and we climbed in. We didn't say much on the way home. When we pulled in the driveway he turned to me.
"I'm sorry I almost tried to kiss you." He said.
"It's okay." I told him.
"It's just been weird seeing you again, and not being with you." He told me.
"Yeah." Was all I said. I felt a little awkward.
"I wont do it again, I promise." He said.
"Thanks." I said. I decided not to tell him I was kind of hoping he was going to kiss me. I didn't want to cause any drama while I was home. He smiled, and we went inside. I went back to my room and layed down to try and take a nap. I was still feeling kind of gross from the night before, and wondering if all that exersize at the dog park was a good idea. I layed down and fell asleep right away.
I woke up a few hours later when there was a knock at the door.
"Come in." I said, and yawned.
"Hey." Oz said, walking in and closing the door.
"Hey. Have a good day?" I asked him.
"Yeah. Guess who I ran into?" He asked.
"Who?"
"Amanda!" He said.
"Amanda? Your ex?" I asked.
"Yeah. She looks so different now! She's not as bitchy either." He said, and I laughed.
"Awesome." I told him.
"Anyway, I'm going to uh...hang out with her tonight. Is that okay?" He asked.
"Yeah, of course. Why wouldn't it be?" I asked.
"I meant, the whole night. I'm going to stay over there." He said.
"Oh." I said. "Yeah, of course." I told him, hoping I didn't sound as disapointed as I felt.
"Thanks. She's waiting outside. I'm going to grab my stuff. See you tomorrow night for the flight." He said, and hugged me.
"Okay." I said. He was out the door in a flash.
"What the fuck." I said, and layed back down. Our flight was later the following night. That day I was suposed to go see my parents out in Apache Junction. I didn't want to go alone. I knew my brother was going to drive out there too, but that wasn't the same. He got along less with my parents then I did.
"Fuck." He said.
"What?" Chris asked, and peeked his head through the door.
"Care to join me on a trip to AJ tomorrow?" I asked him.
"To see your parents?" He asked.
"Yeah." I sighed.
"Of course, your family likes me, remember?" He asked. I laughed. They had liked Chris more then they liked me. Of course they didn't know exactly why we broke up and moved either.
"Jeff will be there too." I told him.
"Oh." He said, suddenly looking worried.
"You don't have to go." I told him.
"No, it would be good for me too. I should apologize. I tried to when I called him looking for you. I even tried to offer to pay him back, but he wouldn't go for it." Chris said.
"I'm sure it'll be fine." I said, and Chris smiled.
